I Had to Write This Down

So, being pregnant w/ #3 child has given me a bigger belly than I remember at 15weeks with previous pregnancies. And ew gross, its mushy, not the hard glorious baby belly w/ the other two babies. So anyway, Q is now a little more aware of my 'big fat belly' as he calls it. Today I asked Q what I had in my belly.
So Q responds: "A big fat ham?" What?!
Me: "No."
Q: "A big fat head?"
Me: "No."
Q: "what is it?"
Me: "A baby."
Q: "Oh yeah."
Q: "did you eat a baby?"
Me: "No."
Q: "Then how'd it get in there."
Me: "welll, uh, there was an egg that is now growing into a baby." (I've told you before people, I'm terrible at explaining things to kids.)
Q" "What?! No, babies don't come from eggs."
Me: "Its a different kind of egg, it...."
Q: "No mom, that's not right."
Me: "You're right Q. God put a baby in there and it will grow and grow and then come out around Halloween."
Q: "Oh, ok. Happy Halloween!!!!"

Thus ended my attempt at explaining gestation to my 4.5 year old. Luckily, when it comes time and he asks how it will get out, I can easily say, "I'll go to the doctor and she will cut it out of my belly." Yes, a much better/easier explanation than the other way.

What Happens When You Pee

One day in March, I raced home from an outing and got the kids out of the car, into the house and rushed upstairs to use the bathroom. I had been in the lou all about 1 minute and returned downstairs to discover the Messmaker 2008 had found the homemade hot chocolate mix in the cabinet that has a child proof lock. (can you see the lock on the floor covered in the mix?) I actually had a clue that something was wrong when Q said, "Oh B, are you making hot chocolate?". My cue to hurry and investigate.
See what happens when you decide to pee in private?
It was fun to clean up too. I think there are still remnants of hot chocolate in the cabinet.

A Staycation at Home

The week after our Paradise vacation, Scott had another week off between jobs and we just stayed home. It was awesome. We both were able to relax and get some things done. Here's the list of what we did that week.

-A new faucet put on the sink.
-3 shrubs pulled out of the front 'landscaping'. (Halleighluia!!)
-A trip to Citzen's Bank Park
-Sleeping late on my part.
-Scott took a trip to NYC to meet up w/ a friend.
-Cleaning and organizing.
-Much playing w/ the kiddos.
-Scott helped my Dad clean his garage and fix the door.
-Much playing in the back yard and a trip to a baseball field to play baseball.

The kids grew so attached to Scott during his weeks at home. If I wasn't so confident that I actually AM my kids favorite deep down, I would have cried in my cornflakes. Everytime Scott got out of sight, both kids would lose it. B would just cry and cry until I offered some sort of sugary snack. And Q would sulk and stomp off to his room and stare out the window to wait for daddy. Even if he just left the room the wailing began. I was constantly saying, he's just going downstairs and he'll be right back. It got to be a little annoying. They also demanded that he do everything for them, like, "daddy's putting me to bed, I want daddy to brush my teeth..." Needless to say I didn't argue, just threw my hands up and went to get him.

It was a nice week.

The things kids say...

A sample of these two cuties cuteness...

Q: "Mom, I'm going to marry you when I'm big. Hey dad, can I borrow your special suit?" (I'm assuming he meant the tux he wore to the wedding).

B: (when I got him after nap time). "Mommy, I pooped."
Me: "Really?"
B: "No, I just kidding." He was just kidding.

Q: (In the middle of the night) "Mom, I'm just sad because I miss the Bahamas." Me too buddy, me too--but I'm not losing sleep over it.

Something cool just happened

And by cool, I mean weird, and by weird, I think it was God thing.
So, the time has come for me to enroll my firstborn in public school. *Gasp* I don't know what is more sad to me, that Q is old enough for kindergarten, or that I am willingly signing him up for public school and throwing him to the wolves. (That's just how I feel...I'm a product of public school, good or bad, but its a scary thing for me). Anyway, two weeks ago I got him all registered for kindergarten. Now, for a while, I thought I'll just leave it up to the powers that be, as to what time he goes to school. Our neighborhood usually gets afternoon kindergarten, and I was almost OK with that. But, it would suck to have to wake up B from an afternoon nap to go pick up Q (and forget the bus, that's another whole long story, but I'm not a fan of the cheese bus). That coupled with the fact that Q still takes a good afternoon nap, and where he could go without one, I feel like he'd learn better in the morning. Right now, he starts melting down around 2pm, and if he doesn't nap, he finds a place to zone out and most of the time will end up falling asleep by 4pm somewhere if I don't purposefully keep him active. I have been praying that God will put him where he needs to be.
OK, all that to say, I decided to call and just ask for morning kindergarten.
I picked up the phone today to call the District and I totally felt shameful for doing so. Like, are they going to think I'm 'that' mom who requires special consideration for their kid. And you're probably thinking: who the heck cares, its kindergarten...
But alas, I did call and I got thru and was told to call the principle at the school where he'll be attending. So I did. The conversation went like this...
Ring Ring: *automated phone system answering, please press 0 at anytime for the office.
Me: *pressing 0*
Office Staff: "Hello, this is so and so, can I help you"
Me: "Yes, I'm trying to reach the principle..."
OS: "Well, he's not in right now, I'm his admin. assistant, can I help you with something?"
Me: "My name is Kate M., and I was--" she cut me off.
OS: "Are you calling in reference to Q?"
Me: "Yes. That's weird, how did you know?"
OS: "I have his file sitting in front of me because I'm entering all the kindergartners into the spreadsheet for classes in the fall and was on his file."
Me: "Well, that's weird."
OS: "I know right? Doo doo doo doo!(to the tune of the twilight zone theme)How can I help you?"
Me: "I was calling to ask if it were possible to get him in am kindergarten cause he'll just be turning 5 the day before the cut off and (a list of other reasons)."
OS: "OK, sure. Consider it done. Although, I'm not supposed to guarantee anything."
Me: "Awesome. Thank you so much."

I'm still sorta sitting here scratching my head as to the weird/cool/God thing that just happened. Honestly, for her to have his file open the second I called? So God. Now I just pray that it all works out for am kindergarten (cause I know things can happen from now till then).

Home Again

Well, we went on vacation to the fabulous Bahamas. Paridise Island to be exact. And it was in fact, paradise!
My mom and her best friend went with us and actually we stayed in my mom's best friend's time share which was the best!
The flight down was great...we almost missed the flight and it was crazy actually getting to the airport in time. My mom was in so much pain from the residual effects of having a kidney stone removed the week before...we had to get a perscription filled before we were able to leave and it made us late. When we finally got to the airport check in, we were told, "Sorry, you're too late." even though our flight didn't leave for an hour. (you really are supposed to be there at least two hours before hand.)
The kids did great on the flight.
THe resort we stayed in was ginormous. Atlantis is awesome though, so much to see and do. We spent our days poolside or at the beach. Loved it. Despite my mom being on her death bed every other day, we had a great time. When my mom was feeling well, she and the boys and Mrs. Mac would play together at the beach and hunt for seashells. Scott and I got to nap a little on the beach which was heaven.
The kids pools were so cool, Q definately developed a love for the water. Previously he was very timid in the water, but I picked up some water wings for him and they seem to have given him confidence and finally let go of me and started treading water. The last day we were there, he spent the whole day in the pool. Like from 10 am to 4pm. The two boys were so tired they crashed and are still crashing today 4 days later...
B loved the water too, we found him a B sized life jacket and he was unstoppable as well. I didn't take many pictures cause I was too busy following the two of them around in the water. My mom though took enough pictures and hopefully will share.

Vacation or not, it was still lots of work. Its just not the same when you have kids. We all returned exhausted. The flight home was rocky and we got caught in a holding patern for a while, and the descend was so rough. B was an absolute brat on the flight. He fell asleep for about 45 minutes and woke up an absolute crab. Nothing would please him. He threw things at me and demanded more toys and snacks. Ugh, it wasn't pretty. Thankfully he didn't make too much noise about it, but it was enough to make me want to drug him next time we fly. (which will be no sooner than never). To make matters worse, we sat in terrible traffic once we got in the car. B was beside himself and cried and screamed on the ride home. My mom tried her best to distract him but by that point everyone was done.

I'm glad to be home. Scott is off for the next week and I'm enjoying his company.

Packing for Vacation

Yesterday, I pulled out the large suitcase and began packing the boys things for vacation. Q seeing what I was doing ran upstairs and came down with his most important items to pack. What did he pack?
A wall clock, an alarm clock, a watch and headphones.
When he came downstairs, Scott had burst into laughter but quickly stiffled it.
Then Scott asked, "What's your name? Flava-Flav?"
Oh my goodness. 3 clocks and headphones?
