The Things Kids are Good For.

1. Entertainment. Yesterday while B napped and Q was out with Grandma, I watched J play with his feet for a couple of hours. OK, maybe a half hour, but it was entertaining.
2. Eating the color jelly beans you don't like. I have a preference for Just Born jelly beans, but I really only like the purple, white, red and pink ones. The other colors just aren't worth the calorie consumption, so when I get a handful of jelly beans, the kids get the yellow, green and orange ones.
3. Getting you stuff when you don't feel like getting up.
4. Keeping you on a diet. I used to enjoy eating cake for breakfast, but now with 3 sets of eyes watching, I can't do that anymore. I used to eat ice cream for breakfast occasionally too, not anymore...
5. Keeping you honest and gossip free. With little ears listening, you can't complain about the IL's or other people openly. LOL. I never did this, I'm just saying...but if I did, I wouldn't in front of the kids. Ha!
6. Keeping you humble. This could be a post in itself.
7. Making you feel important and loved.
8. Helping you realize the amount and depth of love God must have for us. Imagine how much you love your kids, then imagine how much more God loves you being a child of God.
9. Making you love your spouse more. When I watch Scott with the kids, it makes my heart swell with pride and love. He's a great dad. So patient and caring and cute.
10. Forcing you to change. I know God is using my kids to mold me into a different person (for the better). Shedding my selfish ways are hard and I fight it, but its just not possible to stay in the same mindset as before I had kids.

It's Baseball Season!

Well the baseball season is upon us and in our household, this is big news.
Q started Tee-ball last weekend and is so far, loving it. He is hilarious about baseball, he's an avid Phillies fan and knows most of the players by name. Speaking of Phillies, I have joined the ranks of a Phillies fan. Heck, if you can't beat em, join 'em, right? Well, I can't say I'm a fan, but I do watch the games now, and only half the time fall asleep when they are on. Q amazes me that he can watch an entire game and enjoy it. Baseball games are sloooow.

Last Friday night, we got tickets through Q's little league to the Trenton Thunder. He got to March on the field and run out onto the field with the players to stand for the singing of the National Anthem. It was cute. B got picked to say "play ball" to start the game and it was the cutest thing. He was so proud of himself and one of the players gave him a baseball which he didn't let go for about 3 days (and then promptly lost).

I'm sure when and if it ever gets warm again, we'll return to our back yard games of baseball. Now we have a problem though, Q hits the ball so well, he almost always launches them into the neighbors yard. And that's when he's being pitched to, not off a tee.

I have more pictures of tee ball, but, there's other kids in the pictures and I am pretty confident its not cool to post pictures of other peoples kids online.

Happy Baseball!

J Dizzle

JD update.
I am thoroughly enjoying this baby. Yes, his sleep habits are unlike the other two, not napping predictably or sleeping through the whole night. And I get frustrated with that, but in all, I loves me some fat cheeked baby! He is a momma's boy, I do like it that way. He reminds me a lot of Q when he was a baby.

A prize to who knows which one is which.
J is very chatty and happy in the mornings. He is back to loving him some babyfood and talks really loud while he's eating. Like, "yumm, mmm, mamamma" while chewing on the spoon and slurping the goo down. Its a sight. He gets excited when he sees a spoon. He smiles easily, but doesn't laugh very easily. He loves to suck on clothing, and blankets. Sometimes I think he sucks his finger cause he has a sore on his thumb on one hand and a sore on his index finer on the other hand. He must suck on them when he's sleeping, cause I don't see him suck on them during the day. Either that or he is sneaking out at night and fighting cats in the alley because, he also has these awful scratches all over his head. He doesn't scratch during the day, but sometimes when I'm nursing him and he's getting sleepy, he starts scratching his head. Q had awful scratches on his head too. But Q had terrible eczema at J's age that explained the scratching.
True to M baby fashion, he's not rolling over, not sitting up, not pushing up on his hand when on his belly and not really trying to do any of the previous either. Everyone of my boys is a lazy, late developer. Either that, or I'm a terrible mom who can't stand the yelling when I put them on their belly.
This is how J and roll when we are out and about with the big boys.

The Moby Wrap is my best friend. I wish I had one for all 3 of them, but I just purchased it for J. Its sooooo comfortable. I can't wear that Baby Bjorn thing for more than 5 minutes without my back aching. I can wear J in the Moby forever.

J has just started playing with his feet, which to me, is the cutest thing a 5 month old baby does.
Dude, I love babies. I love the first year of life. Its awesome to watch development of humans. Just the fact that he's 5 months old and totally gets the give and take of conversation. He 'talks' and looks at you for a response, then waits till you talk and responds again. Its amazing. Its funny to watch his hand/eye coordination develop as he reaches for stuff, then passes it to his other hand. Pretty cool stuff (some people might think its like watching paint dry, but i think its pretty darn cool). I loved child development in college.
Q is still so in love with him. When I was doing the nebulizer treatments 3+ times a day, Q would come and sing to him and make him smile so he wouldn't scream through the whole thing. When he gets home from school, Q always asks me if he can go talk to J. B is not so much interested. Every once in a while B will stick his finger in J's mouth or eye or ear. Or B will stick his face in J's face which makes me insane and, J sick in about a day.
How can you not love this.

Even when he feels like this,

It makes you smile.

Drei Jahre.

Three years old.
Don't you love B's Chandler Bing smile? He cannot smile naturally, I took about 10pictures and they all look like this. So funny.
This week has been full of birthday celebrations for B. Every birthday for the kids, I say to myself, I will do ONE party. That's it. It never works out that way. Sunday, my mom had us for dinner and made him a cake and we sung then. His actual birthday was on Monday and we had a birthday breakfast and opened presents because dinner was going to be a little chaotic (t ball practice, Scott gets home late and runs out to band rehearsal). I also wanted him to be able to open presents in the morning and not make him wait till 7pm. He got a new scooter, and leapster text toy and a Thomas train. My mom made him a new quilt for his big boy bed and he loved it so much we had to take it with us on errands that morning.
We then had pizza for dinner and cupcakes that night. Scott made me get him some sort of birthday cake for his actual birthday. My dad then stopped by on Friday night to drop off a present for him because he couldn't make it to his party on Saturday.
Well, the Saturday party wasn't as planned. I had planned to go bowling at our local bowling alley. Its our place. There's never anyone in there (and its a complete dive), but its clean and the guy that runs the place is friends with Scott (or at least acquaintances) and he gives us a good deal. I had planned to have some friends and our family there. Well, that alley was having a tournament and it didn't work out. So, we went over to an alley yesterday so my in-laws and parents could at least make it. My mom and us went and waited but my in-laws then called and said they couldn't make it. This is so par for the course with them. I expected it actually. I am past getting upset about it, but I guess I'll never learn NOT to consider them in my planning in HOPES that they'll come. But anyway, we had fun anyway.
I made a monster truck cake for B, it was my worst cake ever. I usually make my own icing, but opted for canned this year to save time. It was a disaster, it was like sliding off the cake and so gooey that I couldn't pipe it well. I also was rushing. Ugh. I'm not proud. But B knew what it was and said, "Aw, its so cute."
LOL. Cute wasn't what I was going for. Observe.

We had a great time. My kids love bowling. I love going on a Saturday, there's usually no one there (even at this alley, which was nice but expensive!). I can let them run wild and they don't bug anyone. Its a lot of fun. B was all hugs during his party.
A little about B:
-B's imagination is amazing. He has very elaborate play schemes. Does dialog for all his cars and trains. Scripts from shows and movies a lot.
-He is a sweet kid when he's by himself. When he's around his older brother, he turns into something of a tyrant. Its like a switch.
-Eats and Eats. But doesn't really care for sweets. What a weird kid.
-Has this deep husky voice that cracks me up.
-Is very independent and brave.
-Tolerates pain like I've never seen a kid do before. Seriously. He fell once and split his lip open (and we even took him to the ER for it, it was that bad) and he only cried for 3 seconds. It had to hurt.
-Can count to 5 and knows his colors.
-Can get dressed pretty much independently.
-Makes better messes than anyone I know. like making 'soup' out of playdough.

-He is a blessing and teaches me more about myself than anyone I know. I know God is teaching me a ton through him. He is humbling and a joy and a source of entertainment. Goodness, I love this kid.

Gibreckle

-My baby turned 5 months. Was doing great eating baby cereal which is a first for me. The other two did not eat cereal. Would not eat it. Anyway, he's not eating it anymore, can't figure if its cause he's sick or not.
-B turned 3 on Monday. Not sure what to say about that. He is a cute character...I think he needs another post all to himself for his birthday.
-J has what essentially is RSV. I have never experience this before, and have never had to nebulize one of my babies. I don't like it. I hope he's better quicker than they tell me how long it takes to get better.
-Q has started Tee ball and he loves it. Scott has been taking him to practice, so I haven't seen him in action yet, but apparently all that back yard baseball has done him good. His first game is Saturday and I'm praying its warm out so we can all go.
-I'm fed up with customer service things lately. I have a list of people/places "on my list." Rite Aid, the bank, the ped's office...they all better watch out. I'm this close to being postal.
-I've been struggling a lot with anger lately. (see previous bullet point). I'm trying so hard not to let each little struggle I have turn into a huge blow up. Its work. Its exhausting.
-We decided two weeks ago to sell our house. Had the realtor over (again, she came this time last year). She gave us a list of stuff to get done, we prayed about it and then decided to wait longer to sell again. Sorry to my realtor, I know we're fickle.
-Vacation is coming soon, and I can't wait.
-Spring is coming soon, and I can't wait.
-I'm attempting to do my 4'x4' garden box again this year. We shall see what happens.
-I love my van. Went on a multiple errand trip today with all the boys. J needed to eat and it was like sitting in my living room nursing, as I sat in the back with him.
So thankful for the many many blessings I have.
