Saturday night, we went on a date night. This usually begins with one of us saying to the other, "what are you in the mood for?" Well, on Saturday I mentioned that I would be in the mood for a nice fresh salad, so where did we end up?
Bobby's Burger Palace of course! For their nice fresh Dallas Burger salad. HA! No salads on the menu, but it was so tasty. Really really tasty. And I felt so cool and trendy being in the city with my band-aided lip and ultra cool mom jeans. Hardy har har. We shared the dallas burger and the Sante Fe. They were delicious.
Earlier on Saturday, we went to Q's t-ball game with my dad, which was fun. Q ended up catching a fly ball, which I missed, and sorta don't believe. He is scared of fly balls, and usually ducks for cover, but he ended up catching one. Because my dad came for breakfast and because by some act of the sleep fairy, Scott and I slept till 8:40am!!, I woke up and didn't shower but dressed quickly and washed my face. Hence, I broke 2 of 3 rules I have for myself all in one day. (Never leave the house not showered, never leave the house without make up on and never wear sweatpants out of the house). I went to his game without make-up and without showering. EEK! I honestly hate the feeling of not showering, but I had no time. Anyway. I thought I'd have time after the game to shower and make myself presentable. It didn't happen. The game ran longer and we wanted to make it to a free carnival our bank was having, so I reluctantly agreed not to shower before we went there too. Well, as we're driving there, I happen to think, "because I'm not showered and made up, I am definitely going to run into someone from high school." I knew it was probable because the carnival was in the old neighborhood.
And sure enough. We ran into somebody. Somebody who just happened to have the hots for Scott in high school. So there I was in my glory, nappy hair, san make up and probably the worst outfit I could have picked. Yes, I realize I'm vain...But I couldn't help but think she was thinking how terribly I've aged. Ha.
Of course she asks what I've been up to, for some reason, making babies wasn't obvious. Then she proceed to fill us in on who's doing what from highschool and of course told me to 'friend her on facebook.' Nope.
Running into people from high school is one of the main reasons I don't do facebook. I talk to the people I want to from high school. I avoid the old neighborhood so I don't run into people. I made some enemies back in the day, don't need them showing up. I just don'thave a desire to 'find' people from my past, thankyouverymuch. The end.

A Week Has Gone By
A week has gone by in a blink. So much has occurred in my house and the days blend together. I have no idea what date it is most days. I'm lucky if I know what day it is. Lets see, since last Friday I have,
-Gone shopping with a friend for the WHOLE day with only J. I got about 3 full outfits and a pair of sandals/flip flops. And lunch out. It was awesome(and my mother's day present).
-Came home from shopping to a meal prepared by my darling husband. It was delicious, but no one behaved long enough for us to sit down and enjoy it together. J was a horrible cranky mess (but he had been awesome all day).
-Saturday night each kid took their turn waking and having fits of coughing followed by fits of crying and gagging. So fun. Scott and I had attempted to watch a movie but gave up on the 3rd interruption.
-Sunday, Q coughed non stop all day. Non-stop, interspersed with B coughing non-stop. If you know me, I have a low threshold for incessant anything, and I was on edge all day. J was happy in the morning but got progressively crankier and then I noticed crusty stuff on his ear. Was that spit up? Hmm.
-I made dinner for my mom and my IL's and it went surprisingly well. I didn't want to kill anyone despite the coughing and the now, extremely cranky J. I made Scott take B for a walk after dinner, because B wanted to watch a movie and when we said no, he threw himself into a riotous fit.
-We slept good Sunday, which was nice, but I notice more crusty stuff around J's ear. Called the ped's and turns out he had a nasty ear infection and a ruptured ear drum. When we left the doctor's office, she told me not to be surprise if I saw blood coming from his ear. Well, the blood came POURING out of his ear and it freaked me out. I felt so bad for J. I had no idea his ear was infected. He didn't have too much trouble sleeping and he is always cranky in the afternoon. I just thought he didn't feel great from the cold he had.
-Tuesday I went to MOPS. I was all proud of myself that I was on time and then as I walked in, I remembered that I was supposed to bring in bagels and cream cheese. I turned around and went out to buy some so somebody wouldn't hate me. I returned to MOPS just in time to enjoy only my bagels cause there was nothing else left when I got back.
-Wednesday I went to bible study. I couldn't concentrate the whole time. I hadn't been there in weeks, and couldn't participate in the conversation, and I had this weird back pain. Then when I went to get in the car to go home, the car wouldn't start. Turns out, B, while having a fit because he was going to bible study, wouldn't get out of the car and so I went to take J in and came back to carry B in. In that time, he turned on the headlights and I didn't notice and the were left on the whole time which sufficiently drained the battery. Turns out that our pastor isn't very mechanical. He says so himself. But we got it jumped and home again.
-Thursday I had a piece of me removed. I'm most excited about this. I had a cyst on my upper lip that was threatening my vanity. So I finally got an appointment and they cut the sucker out. The doctor said about 20 times that he thought it was just "a simple cyst" during the procedure. He told me later he first thought it was a malignant growth. Yikes. But he's almost positive it's not malignant after removing it, and we are having it biopsied. We went out for ice cream after dinner to celebrate the cysts departure. Now I have to wear a ridiculous band-aid on my lip for a week til I get the stitch out. I cannot wait!
-Friday, I had coffee with Shay and it was a much needed time to sit and chat. It was relaxing and just nice to chat with a friend. Later,
For some reason, I had owed Q a trip to the dollar store. It may have been a bribe when he was sick to sit and tolerate a steam treatment, I don't remember, but Q did. So after naps we went to Wal-Mart first (BIG MISTAKE)then the dollar store. Wal-mart was a madhouse (I normally go on Monday am for groceries and its dead). The boys wanted to touch, climb, play on everything, and I was constantly whistling at them like dogs to come and put their hand on the cart and hustle out of that place. Thankfully, the trip to the dollar store was uneventful and he found something that he wanted quickly. He left with a WWF-like belt and a tiny bowling set. He wanted to wear the belt to bed, but I convinced him it would not be comfortable.
Whew. It was a long week. Now I sit by myself and am going to watch a little something on the television and eat my weight in chips and salsa, or hummus and crackers. If I had any chocolate it'd be chocolate.
Tomorrow is another busy day. My dad is coming at 8am for breakfast and then to Q's Tee ball game. 8 am. I will have to get up by 6am to get my coffee quota in BEFORE he gets here. Karen knows what I'm talking about;)

Show n Tell
Q took J to school today for show-n-tell. Letter J was this week's letter, and Q wanted to bring in J for Friday's show n tell time. I was OK with it, but he had to ask the teacher (and I thought he'd forget to), I was surprised that she said yes.
I haven't been to Q's class since the beginning of the year and the kids are all so big now. (on a side note: ALL of the boys looked like Q does, completely bed headed with clothing that does not fit, so I don't feel so bad that Q looks like a homeless kid 90% of the time). So I had Grammy stay with B and took J in for the allotted time. Q was so proud of him, and it was over super quick, a lot of effort on my part for 30seconds of fame for Q, but he loved it, and I think I only annoyed the teacher a little.
Man! I want to be more involved with Q and school next year, but its really a hard thing for me. I have no desire to be involved with the PTO or anything extra curricular. But from what I hear from other Christian parents sending their kids to public school, is you have to get involved.
Q's school is having a carnival next weekend at the school and were asking for donations for raffle items. I could not be bothered with this. Really? What is the donation benefiting? The PTO? Their e-flyer said this was a break-even event and not a fund raiser, so why do it? Does this make me a bad mom? Maybe. We went to an ice-cream social back before J was born which was just a social event, and honestly it was a painful experience for all (it was so crowded and no socialization went on because there was no place to sit or play). Then we went to mother and son night and Q would not participate because it was loud. Why do they do these events? Don't the kids spend enough time there? They didn't have this stuff when I was a kid, and if they did, I don't remember it, and pretty sure my parents wouldn't take me if there were. Next year, I promise, I'll be more involved.

Things I Want to Write Down./Gibreckle
Yesterday, B and Q were outback around 8am playing basketball on the deck. I said to Scott, "Do you think its too early for our neighbors to hear two little boys playing that loudly?" "Nah." He says, "at least they are outside and not inside playing basketball." True. We don't really talk to our neighbors anyway, well except when there is 3 feet of snow outside, and we wave to each other and remark on the crazy "global warming" that is going on.
This morning it was 6:30am and the boys wanted to play ball outside. I did hear Scott tell them no, it was TOO early.
Anywhoo.
While the kids were outback playing, B kept coming inside for various reasons. In and out. Finally Scott had enough of opening the door for him and told him to stay in or out. "But Dad wait!" B says, "I have to tell you a quick story. Once upon a time there was a B, and he was playing basketball, and he didn't score any goals, and then he cried. The end." Then B proceeded outside. (side note: At his 3 year old well check, the Doc asked me if he spoke in sentences of 3 words? Really, 3 words? That can't be right.)
Today, B presented me with a ripped piece of paper. "Who ripped this?" I asked.
"Not me." B says. "Then who ripped it?" I asked. "God did." what? "Yes, God did! He came out of my belly and ripped the paper."
Ooooh. What are they teaching him in kids church anyway?
Is it bad that my 3 year-old is blaming God for the mischief he does himself?
The weather this weekend was glorious. I could have spent all day outside. We had a picnic outback after church and afterwards, I laid down on the picnic blanket and soaked in my vitamin D. Glorious. Until I paid for it. That evening, my eyes became so itchy and once I started scratching I could not stop. Agony. The best and about only thing I could do was put ice on my eyes and pray for it to stop. I then broke out in hives. Awesome. I have about another month of this to look forward to.
J is still not sleeping through the night. I'm not complaining, just kinda wondering why. He was eating baby food until he had a bad reaction (I think) to sweet potatoes (I think), so I stopped all baby food and am starting over again next week. I really should give him the sweet potatoes again to confirm my suspicion, but I don't want to deal with the amount of vomit it produced last time, and I'm worried it will trigger a worse reaction. Incidentally, I finally put him in the nursery at church. I did so rather reluctantly, but he was getting really chatty and doesn't sleep anymore outside of the crib and car. The big boys were both in the nursery at 6 weeks, funny that I waited 6 months for J. Well, it was sick season and the church nursery is a zoo. There are sooo many babies in there, and seriously, its a germ fest.
Thus endeth my seriously long post about nothing.
